germany!

Guten Morgen (Good Morning) my friends!
mark was asked to attend a business conference; I was asked to tag along. we had a wonderful time together as just two. it's been a long time since we traveled without children. this week, I'll be sharing the sights, observations, and many of the lessons learned from my journey.

travel via airplane and ice train :: exploring Ludwigshafen...our home base
:: local time at destination-9:14 am; local time at origin-4:14 am
:: distance traveled- 6,967 km (4,328 miles)
:: 190 passengers, 9 attendants
:: the king's speech, which we couldn't hear
:: with the last sight of land, I prayed
:: the train was quiet
:: well kept homes, cafe curtains, small trash cans
:: lots of street signs
:: a pepperoni pizza = a salami pizza
:: all the shops are closed on Sunday; it's a social, family day

tomorrow I'll share Mannheim!

So glad the two of you had such a great getaway! Mr FC's family is German, and we've been wanting to go there someday. There's even a small town in the north that bears their family name -- might be an adventure.
Anyhoo, I remember watching a Samantha Brown travel show about her experiences in Germany a while back, and just about the only positive thing she had to say was that it was very pretty & clean ;). She didn't exactly say the people she encountered weren't very warm and friendly(understatement), but it was strongly implied. Hope you had a much better experience!
Blessings,
GG

How fun! My sister lived in Germany for a year while going to school there. She also lived in England while going to school as well, I got the chance to visit her in England but not Germany. I look forward to learning more about your trip, and hope to return to England one day, Germany too!

Oh you lucky duck! Your trip sounds wonderful, but I bet both you and the boys were glad to be reunited. I have to get photos of my latest ADVENTure project and get it posted.

I saw on flickr you mentioned that you have to pay for the use of a public toilet? Is this what you meant?

I'm starting at the beginning of your journey and can't wait to read all about your adventures, just you two, some time together much appreciated, I know!

I love that you've detailed your trip, including the number of passengers and miles traveled. Rather than further apart, I believe perceived distance is what brings us closer together in a true sister and brotherhood.
