twice as good

after visiting Rwanda, sara groves came away with the inspiration for this song on her most recent album. there's a saying in Rwanda that you need to have "four good friends." for in that country, if you get sick, the ambulance is four people carrying you on a stretcher. so if you don't have four good friends, you could be in trouble. and not only will they carry you, sometimes those four friends will contribute to the cost of your care.

one of my "four good friends" is very sick. during our recent visit, I made a mistake. I didn't take the opportunity to play this song for her in person, so I'm taking it now.

as you listen to sara sing this song, think of your good friends: the moments you've shared with them, the love between you, the complete acceptance of you and your circumstances. then take a moment to call, write, or visit them. for every day we have together is a gift. we aren't guaranteed tomorrow, so take advantage of the present that today is.

That's very good advice for everyone to follow -- though I can't see how having more than four would hurt. The more, the better.

I'm sorry about your friend. That has to be hard for both of you.

Try to have a good day, my dear friend!

Kristyn, such good thoughts & good advice, as always. So very sorry about your friend and I'm saying a little prayer for her.
A good friend of mine died suddenly at 40 yrs of age -- this was about 15 years ago, and I still miss her and think of her often. I wish I'd told her more what a comfort and inspiration her friendship was.
Brightest blessings,
G
