words for wednesday

Educated women in the home?
What an odd thing to deplore!
What better place to have us “end up”. . .
What more important job is there
than sharing the values we are learning to cherish
with the next generation of adults?
What more strategic place could there be for the educated woman?

I couldn't agree more! It's a fortunate child that has the gift of a loving parent in the home ~ there is so much more to forming a well adjusted child than what they can teach them at school.

Perfect K! I watched "Mona Lisa Smiles" last night (while knitting of course ;), and I love the scene where Julia Stiles' character tells Julia Roberts' (pompous ;) character that being a Wellesley (sp?) educated woman choosing to become a wife and mother rather than a career woman is not a waste. To the contrary, her education makes her better equiped to handle the challenges of being a homemaker which is an important and most noble 'career' -- loved that scene!

The best quote! I think being a parent has been my best achievement.

Makes sense to me! I just wish I didn't have to venture out into the working world. I would much rather be at home and share life and learning with those I love. Oh well.

What a wonderful quote! Makes me stop & wonder if I'm doing a good job of it or not...

I'll have to look up Edith Hunter. I don't recognize her name.
