fluter

(this really was my word verification for jodi's blog. how appropriate!)

flut-ter (v.): to move about or behave in an agitated aimless manner

{unfortunately} this single word has described me since we arrived home january fourth. I've had a difficult time finding my rhythm in this new year::new decade of ours. at times I've felt like a little frog, jumping from one lilly pad to another, searching for the best one to land on and stay awhile. and while all of my wips are important to me, I just haven't been able to stay with one long enough to finish {and therefore share} anything of significance.

order (v.): to bring about order; suggests a straightening out so as to eliminate confusion

truth be told, I've not enjoyed this fluttering. I'm much more comfortable with a flight plan, which gives me the order and structure I so desire for my life. but as I look back over the past few weeks, I can't help but feel a strong sense of purpose. maybe it's to put me in a place of discomfort, so I can grow. maybe it's to learn to take order and structure less seriously. maybe it's to teach me that fluttering is part of training my wings for flight.

I'm certainly a flutterer too! Wish I wasn't, but there it is. Love your frog analogy. I often think of myself as a bunny hopping down one bunny trail after another ;-). I'm constantly striving for order but just never seem to get there -- completely, that is -- oh well . . .

but aren't the butterflies the ones that see the best flowers? I hear you though...I've been fluttering too...I think it's the new year, new start on old routines and the desire to start new ones. It'll all fall into place sooner or later...until then, we'll just enjoy the flowers.

your back !! remember that most of us operate in this fluttering mode most of the time and only wish we were as organized as you. don't worry ... very soon you'll figure it all out and all will be right again. love - uncle tom

Oh my gosh....I've been fluttering around too. I can't seem to concentrate on anything lately, so I dabble in this and that, never accomplishing a thing. But I'm going to make a real effort to stay focused. This was a great posting and I love how you made a connection between just fluttering as practice for something bigger and more important. Nice. Very nice. And I'm so glad you fluttered over to your blog.

It seems that the "New Year's Flutter" is everywhere these days! I feel like the new year is supposed to bring new routines or something, and trying to figure out these new routines while also getting back into the regular school routine--and also dealing with surprise illnesses--all of it makes for a lot of fluttering!

It is comforting to know that I'm not the only one out there fluttering...let's all take a deep breath together and try again!
