a week gone by

didn't I just start this process? I can't believe it's been a week since I started making cards with my aunt karen. this week my life moments, with both work and play, have kept me busy. add in a little blogger's block...and you have the combination for my lack of visiting with you.

I love to send handwritten notes to family and friends. keeping in touch the old fashioned way by using the usps is my first choice. I send out a lot of personal notes, birthday cards, and anniversary notes, and as postage increases I refuse to decrease the amount of cards that leave my pen. so a few years ago, card creating became a hobby of mine. I'll admit to lifting ideas from all places and not having many original ideas, but I do enjoy creating them all by hand. I still shop my local Hallmark store. but with cards averaging $3.00 a piece, I find my little creations at $1.00-$1.25 are just as special with a hand written note inside. after all, it's not really about the paper. the best part of a card are the words you share.
so here are my latest creations:
back to school
at back to school time, the kids are usually the recipients of most of our dollars. these are little encouragements for the moms and teachers in my life as they head back to learning. I started with a sheet of letter stickers with cute animals. I added chalkboard and alphabet borders, paper clip, ribbon, and stamped "back to school" on the inside.
daisy love
my inspiration for these five cards were my recent visits to flickr. aunt karen used her circut to cut all the flowers; I added the eyelets and stems.
happy birthday to you
I purchased an embleshment bag from Be Creative that yielded me 14 cards. these were all original ideas. I usually have a quick start when I have an idea sheet to follow. since I didn't receive one, it took me a few minutes to get the inspiration flowing.
sticker love
I found this set of 15 cards on clearance at michael's for $1.99. an all inclusive kit...open, use the enclosed stickers to add an embleshment, and mail!
I encourage you to send a note the old fashioned way. spend a few minutes, share your thoughts and feelings, and send it off to a special someone in your life! you'll be glad you did!

you are an inspiration to me with the care and love you show with handwritten notes. i was sure that i would never find anyone that could hold a candle to my grandfather in the area of personal correspondence. but you stand unique and tall, well clear of his shadow. you have an unbelievable heart, and it must have the ability to regenerate itself. because i see you put a little piece of it in every card and note you send. having been a recipient of many of your hands-to-heart creations, i believe i can speak for those who have been blessed by your notes ... you are amazing!

great job on this newest batch!

I love all of those cards. I do love hand written notes as well. I always intend to send more than I do, but receiving them (as I did this week ) really puts a smile on my face.

great job on all those cards. I can't even pick a favorite. I like them all for different reasons! they turned out fabulous! just like you. the only thing better than your cards is the handwriting that goes into them!

Fabulously crafty cards! It's time for some cardmaking around here too, I've got no ready cards and way too many stamps and inks just laying around unused... shame, shame...

And then there's the knitting to do-
Happy knitting!
